Several members (Dianne, Ken, Ivan, Ed) plan to attend the District Conference on July 17 in Gilroy. Yeehaw!!! It’s a Western theme - Hope you all had a great time.
There are a number of important dates coming up. Please check below the club and district's upcoming events sections of the bulletin, and mark your calendars.
Celebrations
We took a moment to recognize and celebrate Dianne in her new role as Assistant Governor. She’ll have her hands full! So, what will Dianne be doing in this role? Great question… The Assistant Governor (AG) provides a link between local clubs and the district. Dianne will oversee area 4a (San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward). She’ll be supporting Club Presidents, providing useful resources, and helping our club reach our goals. She’ll work very closely with Richard Flanders, the 5170 District Governor. Dianne, THANK YOU for sharing more about your role and for taking on this leadership responsibility.
Dianne also brought cupcakes to celebrate two July birthdays – Mike Jones and Wayne, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Membership Committee
Our membership Chair (Bill Lam) and Co-Chair (Ed Hernandez) need your input. They shared ideas they have for upcoming mixers and are seeking input from all of you as well. We discussed many great ideas so I am sure our mixers will be lots of fun. Reach out to Bill and Ed if you have other ideas to share. Mixers are a great opportunity to introduce new people to our club, so bring a friend, invite a colleague, and get the word out about the Rotary Club of San Leandro. We also look forward to seeing members that can’t easily attend our lunch meetings.
As a reminder, mixers will take place on the 4th Wednesday each month. Our first mixer of the year will be July 28 at the Monarch Bay Golf Club. We’ll be meeting in the bar area/outdoor patio and there may even be an opportunity to practice your golf skills. Bill and Ed are working on details so stay tuned.
THANK YOU to Bill and Ed for leading our membership committee.
A Rotary Moment
One goal I have for the year is to work on our public image. More people in our community should know about our club and the impact we have in the community and internationally. I shared a ‘Rotary Moment,’ a moment that, for me, was very special. And yes, I cried… anyway… my hope is that we can share at least 12 Rotary moments throughout the year, one each month. I’ve already got 5 volunteers – I need 6 more, please. Rotary moments will be shared on the website and social media channels as well – this can be a great way to attract new members to our club and show how we impact our community and the world. Thank you for the feedback on this idea and for volunteering to share your special Rotary moments. I can’t wait to hear them!
See you tomorrow!
