Kate and her husband, Simon, moved to San Leandro in 1997 when they were just 25. Like many others, their 'starter' home became permanent after forming many friendships and connections in the neighborhood while raising their two (amazing) kids, Olivia & Henry.

She was fortunate to be able to spend time at home with her young kids, spending many hours volunteering for the schools and supporting the kids' extra-curricular endeavors. Kate then spent a few years working in the personnel department for the San Leandro Unified School District. When the SLED Executive Director role became open (originated by Rotary's own force of nature, Morgan Mack-Rose), Kate finally took the plunge to do the work that she really loves -  supporting local kids by helping provide education experiences!

Kate's other talents lie primarily with all things entertaining - throwing parties, cooking and baking, cocktail making, and travel planning.  She will never miss spending time among the redwood trees, at the California coast, and almost anywhere with family and friends. It may or may not be her dream to be able to sleep overnight in a museum, just like 'From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler', except preferably at the V&A instead of the Met.

Joining Rotary brings together many of Kate's interests and abilities, and she is passionate about supporting the many worthy local causes that need our support and attention in San Leandro.
